William Maddock (otherwise Maddell) found guilty on an indictment for being found at large in the Kingdom having been tried at the Essex Lent 1744 Assizes for a burglary in the dwelling house of Thomas Ruggles: stealing therefrom a pair of metal buttons (valued at 1d) and 47/- in money numbered for which he was sentenced to death but reprieved for transportation.
